Activities in autumn 2026

Glacier measurements

Every autumn, experts survey the front positions of several of the outlet glaciers of Jostedalsbreen, including Haugabreen, Vetle Supphellebreen, Bøyabreen and Marabreen.

Here you can see the front of Haugabreen. From the rock in the center of the picture to the front of the glacier, the distance has increased every year since measurements began in 2013. Today, the front of the glacier is more than 30 meters further up the terrain.

School visit

Every autumn we welcome school classes to the museum. Here you will learn about how glaciers have shaped the landscape, the past climate and future developments.
