Collective transport
The Norwegian Glacier Museum is located in Fjærland - the area surrounding the Fjærlandsfjord, an arm of the Sognefjord. By travelling by public transport, you can get to Fjærland from Oslo and Bergen by bus via road number 5 and it is a short distance to Skei or Sogndal. The bus stop is close to the museum.
Travel times to Fjærland from:
Skei: less than ½h (car - 28 km)
Sogndal: just over ½h (car - 34 km)
Bergen: 4-5t (car or bus)
Oslo: 6-8t (bus/car via Lærdal)
For travelers with electric cars, you can use fast charging in the parking lot. This is operated by Mer.
Getting here
Passenger ferry Fjærlandsfjorden
The fjord and glacier cruise route on the Fjærlandsfjord runs between Fjærland and Vik/Balestrand from June 1 to September 30.
The glacier bus
Daily departures in the period 01.06-30.09. The bus corresponds with the tourist boat that comes from Balestrand.
It goes to Bøyabreen and stops at the Norwegian Glacier Museum on the way.
In high season there is an English-speaking guide on board.
