Norwegian Glacier Museum this summer

Norwegian Glacier Museum is open every day 9-19 this summer. Here you can watch the fantastic panoramic film about Jostedalsbreen National Park, experiment with real glacier ice from Supphellebreen and experience the earth's climate history through an interactive evolutionary walk.

The museum also has its own café with a new design and a museum shop that, among other things, focuses on sustainable solutions. You can enjoy your food in our outdoor seating area at the front of the museum. We also have newly refurbished toilet facilities in 2021, free parking and a charging station for electric cars (Operator "Mer").

Outside, we have an educational play park aimed specifically at children and young people, with mammoths and models explaining what a moraine or sea level rise is.

There's a lot more to do in glacier- and the fjord village. Such as self-guided hikes, guiding on the glacier, kayaking on the fjord, a floating sauna and food service at Bøyabreen at Brævasshytta and in Mundal. There are also great places to stay in Supphelledalen at Rødseter, Bøyum Camping next to the museum, Fjærland Hytter utover fjorden and in Mundal (Fjærland's center) with Fjærland Fjordstove Hotel. Mundal is also home to Den Norske Bokbyen, Fjærland Guiding, Kafeen i Mundal, Jokerbutiken and the guest harbor for small boats.

And of course, make sure to visit the glaciers! Like in the picture below, Bøyabreen.

Our museum hosts are helpful in recommending activities and other things to do in Fjærland and the Sognefjord area. Check out Fjord Map!

We hope Fjærland can entice a summer day in 2021. Welcome to Norwegian Glacier Museum and Fjærland.
