New CEO
Board of Directors Norwegian Glacier Museum has appointed Anne Mundal Skjelten as new director at the museum.
Norwegian Glacier Museum is a private foundation established by Norwegian Polar Institute, NVE, UiO, UiB, University of Western Norway, DNT and International Glaciological Society. In the 28 years that have passed since the opening of the museum, the center can be said to be one of Norway's largest museum attractions, with an annual average of close to 65,000 visitors and a continuously good economy. In recent years, the museum has been visited by around 80,000 visitors and since its opening in 1991, almost 2 million people have visited the museum.
Anne Mundal Skjelten has previously worked as a regional secretary in the insurance company Vital, and as the day-to-day manager of Sigurd Ziem in Bergen. In 2011, she and her family moved home to Fjærland and in recent years she has worked both as an advisor in the finance department and as deputy head of the accounts department at NAV in Leikanger.
Anne is 43 years old and grew up in Fjærland with glaciers and tourism as a natural part of her life. At the age of 16, she started her first summer job at Hotel Mundal, and from 1993 she had a summer job for seven consecutive years at Norwegian Glacier Museum and at the tourist information office in Fjærland. She therefore knows both the museum and the village very well.
Anne takes up her new position from 15 March 2020 and becomes the 4th director since the museum opened its doors in 1991.
